Supervising First Aid for Mental Health

FAA Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) Award in Leading First Aid for Mental Health at SCQF Level 6

Anyone can be affected by a mental health condition either themselves or a family member, friend or colleague. This course builds on the Level 2/5 Award in First Aid for Mental Health and covers a wider range of mental health conditions and goes into detail on the range of therapy and professional support that a person may be given by professional bodies during treatment for a mental health condition.

The course is suitable for all persons within a workplace but is aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial level position and who have responsibility for implementing a positive mental health culture and responsibility for First Aid for Mental Health within an organisation.

Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:

  1. What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  2. Identifying mental health conditions
  3. Providing advice and starting a conversation
  4. Drugs and alcohol
  5. First Aid for Mental Health action plan
  6. First Aid for Mental Health in the workplace
  7. A large range of Mental Health conditions covered in detail

Course Duration

This course runs over 12 hours spread over at least 2 days. Ideally, the course should be run over two consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire, providing it is completed within 10 weeks of starting the course and the training sessions last for a minimum of two hours.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the qualification assessment, Learners will be awarded the Ofqual regulated Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF)/Award in Leading First Aid in Mental Health at SCQF Level 6. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.

Assessment

Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment on each day. A Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises, reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling or at our training centre in Cambridgeshire.
